i'm sure every cambodian love this wonderfull heritage but can do very little to protect. Most of them are poor and need money to survive. The money raised from Angkor Wat does not benefit these poor people. i've been there in 1979 (just left Pol Pot) and in 1998, this last visit was different, alot of people there and alot of stuff went missing !

Hi Eang and everybody,

Well, I agree that we have done so little to protect our wonderful heritage, but we can't give up now... Giving up is the last thing we can do...

And I am very sad that we didn't win the New7Wonder... But Angkor what is still one of the most beautiful things that we all should be proud of... Many people around the world start to know about it and many of them want to go visit Angkor Wat.

I hope I have the chance to visit Angkor Wat again soon.

Sarah

It's a special place for us all and certainly has made me feel proud to be Cambodian. I know there are outside agencies that try to help and maintain our heritage but our poor people need to survive. The money raised have to benefit those that lives there and maybe some education regarding this valuable heritage could also help to prevent it from ruin.
I'm sure you must have seen the old man that swept the ground at Angkor Wat, right ? Does this man get a tap on the shoulder for his effort or some kind of recognition from those in charge ?

Post edited by: eang, at: 2007/07/27 20:55
